JIM EDWARDS

FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF ITNC
1980 – 2009

It is with great sadness that ITNC have learned of the death of Jim Edwards, President of the Trust.

Jim was the driving force behind the founding of the International Trust for Nature Conservation in 1980. He recognised the valuable contribution which could be made by a smaller conservation organisation which could concentrate on projects that did not necessarily fit the remit of the larger global trusts. He gathered together a group of trustees and supporters whose knowledge and passion for conservation and the Indian sub-continent would ensure the success of the projects in which ITNC became involved. In the twenty nine years of Jim’s involvement his commitment, energy and wise judgment were unfailing and a major source of the success of the Trust from it’s beginning .

Jim was a notable figure in Nepal and India and in the conservation activites of both those countries. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends from all over the world
